SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a W3C XML format for vector images, first published in 2001. Shapes, paths, gradients and text are described in markup, so they stay sharp at any size.
Because SVG is XML, it can also contain scripts, event handlers and external references. Treat uploaded SVG as code: sanitize it, or serve it in a way that cannot run scripts.
<!-- Scripts never run in SVG loaded with <img> -->

Previews here load SVG through an img element, where browsers never run scripts. Open the file directly in a browser tab to see the difference.
