Yes. Each file opens normally. Extra bytes go where the format allows them, such as a JPEG comment, a PNG chunk, an MP4 free box or a padding stream in a PDF.

How large can a file be?

Up to 2 GB in most browsers, depending on available memory. Large files are assembled from reused chunks, so they build quickly.

Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. Files are created on your device and never leave it.
